The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between emotion regulation strategies and premenstrual symptoms with the mediation of cognitive flexibility. Data were collected using the Emotion Regulation Strategies Questionnaire (ERQ), the Premenstrual Syndrome Standard Questionnaire (PSST) and the Dennis and Vanderwaal Cognitive Flexibility Questionnaire (CFI). Questions about demographic characteristics were added at the beginning of the questionnaire. Cognitive flexibility plays a significant mediating role for the relationship between emotional
suppression strategy and premenstrual symptoms in women. But for the relationship between cognitive reappraisal strategy and premenstrual symptoms in women, its mediating role is not significant and cognitive reappraisal strategy only directly affects premenstrual symptoms in women.
