Predicting Students' Psychological Vulnerability based on Dark Personality Traits and Addiction to Cyberspace

Abstract :
The purpose of the current research was to predict psychological vulnerability based on dark personality traits and addiction to virtual space of students of Islamic Azad University, Shabestar branch in the academic year of 2022-23. For this purpose, 322 students were selected from among the target population by stratified random sampling method and psychological vulnerability questionnaire (Najarian and Davoudi, 2001), four dark personality traits model questionnaire (Yousefi and Imanzad, 2018) and addiction questionnaire to virtual space (Yang, 1998) was implemented about them. The descriptive research method was correlation type. Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation and regression. The findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between dark personality traits and cyberspace addiction with psychological vulnerability (P˂0.01). In addition, it was found that psychopathy trait, sadism trait and addiction to virtual space can predict the psychological vulnerability of students (P˂0.01). Therefore, it is concluded that cyberspace addiction, psychopathy trait and sadism trait can predict the psychological vulnerability of students.
