The purpose of this research was identification of constituents and factor structure of Positive youth development. The research community includes the professors and practitioners of this field, PhD students and high school students. The sample consists of 15 professors and experts who were chosen in a targeted manner and according to specialty. Also 25 PhD students from different universities participated in a accessible form. Finally, a sample of students includes 1200 students (600 girls and 600 boys) were selected through randomized cluster method. Given the nature of the subject and research objectives; in the first step, the contributing factors of "positive youth development" collected and analyzed based on three sources: studies and theoretical texts, practical plans, and measurements; and with emphasis on qualitative method of categorization. Then, measurement and structural models of positive young development extracted using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The final model of research includes four factors; competency factors (11 items), communication (14 items), agency (13 items) and positive thinking (7 items). The presented model has similarities to existing models, but it has its own form of loading. Manuscript profile

The purpose of this study was to identify the features of emerging adulthood developmental stage (from 18 to 29 years old) in Iranian university students and investigate the role of gender in perception of these features. By employing criterion sampling, 15 persons (M=23.26, 8 males and 7 females) were selected from 18-29-year-old university students/graduates who were living in Tehran in 2017. All participants were subjected to a semi-structured interview. Analyzing the data by employing the phenomenological method and Colaizzi’s seven-step strategy indicated seven features, including Agency formation, Identity formation, Confusion, Optimism, Feeling in-between, Instability, and the need for intimacy. Results also showed that there were some differences between males and females in Agency formation, Confusion, Instability, and the need for intimacy. The results of this study emphasize the need to review the knowledge of the young age period in Iranian culture and provides hints in this regard. Manuscript profile

This study aimed to investigate the evolution of cognitive intelligence, emotional intelligence, and spiritual intelligence and compare the development of the three types of intelligence from adolescence to old age. This research is cross-sectional developmental research design and descriptive method of a causal-comparative study. Participants in this study were 691 individuals living in Arak with an age range of 14-80 years were selected by random cluster sampling method, and answered Sohrabi and Naseri spiritual intelligence questionnaires, Bradbury-Graves Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and the adult version of the Raven’s Progressive Matrices Test. The results of data analysis by two-way analysis of variance showed a significant difference between different age groups in terms of spiritual intelligence, but this difference was not significant in cognitive and emotional intelligence. Also, the interaction effect of type of intelligence and age group was significant. It can be concluded that the developmental process of cognitive, spiritual, and emotional intelligence over time from adolescence to old age is not the same, and perhaps in the final stages of life with the loss and decline of one of these intelligences can be seen another increase to compensate for the deficiency to solve life problems. The present study has aimed to investigate the developmental trajectories of cognitive intelligence in Iranian preschoolers to provide earlier prevention or intervention. The study sample was 433 healthy Iranian children (girl=47.8%) from Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Mashhad, Zarand, and Tabriz, who ranged from 48 to 78 months. The third Persian version of the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence was used to assess cognitive intelligence. A positive moderate (.3<r<.7) significant Pearson correlation was observed among 22 cases out of 42 correlations. It indicates a high internal correlation of cognitive components. The results of ANOVA showed no significant difference among Verbal Intelligence, Performance Intelligence, and overall Intelligence, in boys and girls. Results of the Kruskal-Wallis test showed there were significant differences among developmental trajectories of Verbal Intelligence, Performance Intelligence, and overall Intelligence among the six-month age groups, which were followed up by the Games-Howell post-hoc test. Significant increase (p<.01) in cognitive intelligence at 48 to 78 months of age indicates that this age is one of the critical periods associated with the development of cognitive ability. Founded developmental trajectories in present study, can help administrators and professionals to cause better planning for early childhood. Manuscript profile

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between perception of parenting styles and components of thriving with mediating role of life management strategies among emerging adulthood. A total of 487 Universities students 18-29 yerars old emerging adults responding a survey included the Inventory of the The questionnaire of perceived parenting practices (Grolnick et al., 1997) , Life-management strategies questionnaire (Geldhof et al., 2015) and Positive Youth Development Inventory (Arnold et al., 2012) volunteerly. Data were analaysed with structural equation model method and the results show the Perception of Parenting styles and Life-management strategies have positive significance effect on thriving. Furthermore the indirect effect of Perception of Parenting styles via mediating role of life management strategies on thriving is significant. As results indicated the model of Perception of mother predict 40% variation of thriving and the model of Perception of father 45% variation of thriving. In general our findings suggest that Perception of Parenting styles alongside individual variable can affect on thriving in emerging adulthood. Manuscript profile

The study was carried out to develop a theoretical and empirical model of self-destructiveness with an emphasis on the ego development, with the hypothesis that the ego development level can mediate the relationship between stress and perceived stress. 258 students responded to the Washington University Sentences Completion Test (WUSCT), Chronic Self-Destructiveness Scale (CSDS), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and Paykle Scaling of Life Events. Data were analyzed by SPSS-21 and LISREL-8.72, through Pearson correlation and the path analysis. Results showed an inverse relationship between self-destructiveness and ego development level. The sample was divided into high and low levels of ego development groups and the linear relation of stress, perceived stress, and self-destructiveness was investigated in both groups. Findings showed that all of the paths were significant and the model fit with the data. The CR was significant and indicated that there is a significant difference between the coefficients of the two groups with high and low levels of ego development. The path of “stressor → perceived stress” was stronger in persons with lower levels of ego development, as a high level of ego development, as a basic construct, can reduce the effect and amount of stress, before the perception of stress. Findings led to the development of a simple model which interprets stress or perceived stress merely as a reason for self-destructiveness tendencies. Ego development, as a basic indicator of character development, has a critical role in this model. These findings is useful in the treatment of persons with self-destructive tendencies.
